José Carlos Pace Race Track celebrates 75 years-old in 2015
São Paulo circuit went through a stage of reforms in the past year and has established itself as one of the best racing tracks in the world.
The Autódromo José Carlos Pace, better known as Interlagos Circuit, Full 75 years this year, bringing in historical moments of the Brazilian auto racing and world. Brief history
Initially, Interlagos had been planned to be a satellite town where, plus a racetrack, have infrastructure such as homes, commercial complexes, hotel, church and other establishments. The first project was first designed in the mid- 1920 by British engineer Louis Romero Sanson, who owned an estate plan for the south region of São Paulo. With the participation of Alfred Agache, French urban planner suggested name the area “Interlagos”, the similarity with the Swiss region of Interlaken – which means “between the lakes” -, because it is between two dams in São Paulo, Billings e Guarapiranga.

Track changes
The original track had Autodrome 7.960 meters long, and decreased to 7.873 meters 1979, when renovations were made to get back to Formula 1. Renovation
Between July and November 2014, the Autodromo received the first stage of interventions for improving equipment, which included:
• resurfacing of the entire track of the official circuit and also the pit lane (paved area lateral to the race track used for receiving cars);
• increased entry of boxes, that was wider – going from 30 for 45 m – and more extensive, starting about 300 meters before the old;
• creation of a run-off area on the curve ‘S of Senna’ about 10 meters and track change in the output of boxes.
The works are part of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) launched by the Ministry of Tourism in 2013 to stimulate the industry across the country. In São Paulo, the Interlagos Racetrack had transfer of $ 160 million and interventions were performed by Sao Paulo Works (SPObras, company of the Municipality of São Paulo linked to the Municipal and Urban Infrastructure Works – Siurb).

Motoring Cradle
Twelve curves, 1.150 meters long and almost half decade. This is the Karting Interlagos, one of the first tracks dedicated to the sport. Inaugurated in 1970 and was reopened in 2015 with new asphalt and other improvements made in the same period of reforms in the Autodrome in the previous year.

500 meters of guardrails were installed on both side of the track, side protection grid, painting and signaling asphalt. Public space
