São Paulo readies new sports arena concession
City hall in the Brazilian city of São Paulo has opened up a consultancy phase to prepare an upcoming 285mn-real (US$72.4mn) sports arena concession
The 30-year concession is to build, operate and maintain a multi-use arena in the Anhembi complex (pictured) located in the northern district of the capital city. The covered structure would have a minimum capacity of 20,000.
The contract will be granted to the bidder with the largest concession offer. A minimum offer of 135mn reais has been stipulated. Payments can be made throughout the 30-year period, according to tender documents.
Companies or consortiums, as well as financial institutions and pension funds are eligible. Interested parties may send in suggestions or address doubts until March 21.
Project Studies
Numerous companies declared their interest during an expression of interest phase last year. Among them are four consortiums and two companies which are being compensated a total of 3.5mn reais for joint studies developed for the project.
The four consortiums are: Arena Assessoria de Projetos-Moyses & Pires-Lagardere Unlimited do Brasil-BF Capital; Fernandes Arquitetos-SBP do Brasil- Empresa Brasileira de Engenharia de Infraestrutura; IMX-Azevedo Sette-Gustavo Penna Arquitetos-Lumens Engenharia; and Almeida & Fleury-TetraArq.
